NATURAL GAS LEAK IN THE TWP

Stations 8 and 7 (Tioga) were dispatched on box alarm 8-04 on the Buckwheat Hollow Road in Lawrence
Township for the report of an outside natural gas leak. Engines 8-2 and 8-3 responded. Upon arrival, it was found that a backhoe
had struck a buried gas line causing it to split open. The roadway was blocked on either side of the leak, nearby residences
were evacuated for safety, and Engine 7-3 was cancelled. Units remained on scene for UGI to arrive and control the leak. After
the leak was contained, all units returned to quarters.
GASOLINE SPILL IN THE BOROUGH
04/14/14 0023hrs
Station 8 was dispatched this morning for a HAZMAT call at the Pump and Pantry on Main Street in Lawrenceville
Borough. It was reported that approximately 10 gallons of gasoline had spilled onto the ground. Chief 8-20 (Strange) arrived
on scene to find that absorbant had been put in place by the store employee. Rescue 8-8 responded with a crew of 5. On scene,
R8-8s crew assisted with spreading the absorbant and ensuring all the material was cleaned up. The area was secured and all
units returned to quarters.
MUTUAL AID FIRE IN RICHMOND TWP
04/12/14 1604hrs
Station 8 was alerted this afternoon for a transfer engine assignment to Mansfield Station 2. Several area
departments were operating on a wildfire off the Mann Creek Road in Richmond Townhip. Engine 8-3 responded with a crew
of 5. Enroute to Station 2, E8-3 was requested by Mansfield Command to redirect to the scene to provide manpower. E8-3s crew
arrived and went to work in the fire area checking for hotspots and ensuring the fireline would hold. After approximately
45 minutes of operating on scene, the fire was called out and all units returned to quarters.
2ND WILDFIRE OF THE DAY
04/10/14 1439hrs
Stations 8 and 18 (Nelson) were dispatched to a reported wildfire on Labbs Lane off of Birch Hill Road in
Lawrence Township. Units from 8 were previously operating on a wildfire on the south end of the township and responded from
there. Enroute, Chief 8 requested Lindley FD dispatched to assist. Patrol 8-4, Squad 8-18, and Engine 8-2 all responded from
the previous run. Units arrived and stretched two hoselines into service and knocked the fire down. P18-4 positioned off of
a driveway on the north side of the fire and provided suppression from there. The fire was quickly brought under control and
Lindleys apparatus were requested to standby at Station 8. Units worked on scene for approximately an hours before returning
to the station.
WILDFIRE NEAR ROUTES 328/287
04/10/14 1315hrs
Station 8 was dispatched this afternoon for the report of a wildfire behind Diamond T Welding in the area
of Routes 328 and 287. Chief 8 (Scott) arrived and reported a small wildfire with multiple exposures. Patrol 8-4, Squad 8-18,
and Engine 8-2 responded. Patrol 8-4 arrived on scene and stretched two handlines with the Squads crew assisting. E8-2 later
arrived and provided water to P8-4. Units worked on scene for approximately 1.5 hours before having to pick up quickly and
respond to the next alarm.
